thank u sir.... newbie po ako sa potograpiya,,,got this pic 3 days after i bought my camera..i jaz started shooting... comments and suggestions how to improve portrait pictures is greatly appreciated since mahal po mag aral potograpiya dito... by the way, PP: contrast, vibrance and white balance adjusted and vignette applied....

I would have to rate this image 2 out of 5 for the reasons below:
- Your subject is out of focus. Notice that the focused area are the ladder and the child's right hand. When taking shots of potraits, always focus on the face and/or eyes. - I'm not particularly sure what you are trying to achieve with the colors: monochrome on the right side, colored on the middle left portion. Can you enlighten us? - Framing: I think it would have been better to include the left leg complete down to the feet since its just about 2-3 inches away, also to compensate that large headroom you have above. Perhaps better if it was taken a little bit afar from the subject. - Nice capture of the child's facial expression as it somehow shows her excitement in attempting to climb that ladder, however again, it wasn't in right focus.

tama po kayo doon.... yun din nanotice ko out of focus ang face ni mikaela..instead yung right arm ang nakafocus... newbie po sa post processing...i was trying to make a monochrome/black and white background but i dont have the photoshop that time so i used the acdsee pro to edit the picture and vignette black and white lang po ang available... tama din po kayo naputulan ng limb anak ko jan...dapat kasali isang paa... sa totoo lang mabilisang shoot po kasi magalaw...

^ add to yohan's comments: When taking child pictures, you usually shoot them at THEIR eye level... meaning minsan, you have to kneel down or yumuko. Got this from Sid ata before... ehehehe...

that's the challenge, but it's not supposed to be used an excuse for a poorly taken image. like i said, keep on practicing. enjoy it too while doing so!
